>Is the detail in your new Gold XL9 Charts the same
as the detail in your charts with smaller coverage sizes?
A: The navigation detail or chart information in
Navionics products varies by product (ie Gold Charts and Classic Charts),
but not by coverage size. For example, if Gold Charts are available in your
area in two different coverage size (ie XL9 and Small), the detail will be
the same in both XL9 and S-size Gold Charts; it is only the size of the area
being covered that is different. Visit the PRODUCT section of our website

>What is the difference between Gold and Classic
Charts?
A: Both Gold Charts and Classic Charts provide the
same basic navigation and fishing information however, Gold Charts offer
some additional features. Most noticeably, Gold Charts look more like a
paper chart, complete with shaded depth contours, colored light sectors and
real-world shapes and colors of buoys and navaids. Another new feature of
Gold Charts is "XPlain", a plain-language description feature that, with
just a click of the cursor, deciphers confusing navigational symbols into
plain-language everyone can understand.

>I have a Raymarine C-Series and a Gold XL3-size
chip currently. I just received a promotion from Navionics for Gold+ XL9
chips. Is Gold+ XL9 compatible with my C-Series?
A: Yes, Raymarine C-series models are compatible with Navionics Gold+ Charts
programmed onto a CF (CompactFlash) media card. The XL3 charts were the
largest coverage size available from 2004 to 2006. In 2007, Navionics
combined three XL3 charts into one huge XL9 chart for the same price of $199
($USD)! Remember, your older Navionics chart has a Trade-In value towards
the purchase of a new chart. Click

>What do all the Code #'s mean when selecting a map
on my Gold chip?
A: Some chartplotter models, mainly Lowrance because of it's double-tray
option, allow users to select the map they want to view using a 'Map data'
menu. These models show a list of codes to choose from, rather than a list
of areas or regions. For a cross-reference of codes related to your Gold+

>What is the difference between Gold+ & Platinum
charts?
A. The marine Gold+ charts have depth contours, spot soundings, buoy
information, obstruction information, show the chart in a paper like view
(the water has different shades of coloring), the Xplain feature (which
explains different icons on the chart), has major coastal roadways,
NavPlanner compatible, enhanced port services & the availability of the free
Fish'N Chip (offshore bathymetric information). The marine Platinum charts
have the same information as the Gold+ charts but additional advanced "award
winning" features such as Coastal Points-Of-Interest, Panoramic Port photos,
geo-referenced Coast Pilot Books, top-down satellite photo overlay and 3D
view for land & water. |
